Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Manager, Alexa's PLAYC-50533 in San Diego, California


Responsible for daily operations and overall program management of Alexa's PLAYC (Playful Learning Academy for Young Children), which is an inclusion program providing child care and early education to typically developing children, and education services to children at-risk for, or having an autism spectrum disorder. Program allows for up to 111 children, with approximately 50% of the children on the autism spectrum and 50% typical children. Develops annual budget, and provides ongoing fiscal management, strategic planning, and program development. Responsibilities include personnel management, staff scheduling and training, classroom oversight, marketing, customer relations, quality control, and physical facility.Ensures all parent, child, and staff concerns are appropriately addressed. Ensures that Alexa's PLAYC meets or exceeds governing regulations and the quality of standards required for Child Care Licensing and The Joint Commission. Ensures and develops appropriate activities and curriculum for children enrolled in the program, and that lesson plans, teaching aids, and classrooms are all age-appropriate. Also ensures that targeted evidencebased and evidence-informed strategies and goals for at-risk children are implemented. Leads discipline-specific performance improvement efforts, and serves as clinical subject matter expert.


Bachelor's Degree

3 years administrative experience working in a preschool environment

3 years experience in an early childhood setting

1 year training teachers

CPR/BLS Certification (AHA)

Demonstrated skills in personnel management, financial management, marketing, leadership, organization and quality assurance

6 units of infant, toddler and/or preschool courses

3 units of administrative course

Meets Community Care Licensing requirements for preschool director


Master's Degree in Child Development or Human Development (Child Development emphasis)

3 years experience training teachers in early childhood education concepts

3 years experience working with toddler-preschool age children (18 mos - 6 yrs)

1 year previous child care center director experience

Competency with child abuse reporting procedures

Experience with inclusion programs for children with special needs
